Harriet Brotzman Retires
On January 18, 2008, Harriet Brotzman officially retired as an employee of Meals on Wheels of Chemung County. This is a significant event for the staff, volunteers and clients of Meals on Wheels because Harriet's work has helped the daily operation run well for so many years.
Harriet and her husband Linn have been volunteering for Meals on Wheels since 1988 and are great examples of love in action. During the first 8 years of volunteering, Harriet was at the office 5 days each week. In December 1996 we made the decision to hire Harriet, easily one of the best decisions ever made at MOW.
Since that time, Harriet has been a tireless worker, rarely taking time off for vacation or any other reason. Her daily work has positively impacted every client because the focus of Harriet’s job was our clients. Harriet ensured that all client meals were appropriate, and that all special diet clients received the appropriate hot meal, and that all bags for cold meals were properly labeled. When the daily allocation of meals was prepared Harriet then went to the packing area to ensure that all of our clients received the appropriate meals.
Harriet and Linn will continue to volunteer at least once each week because of their commitment to helping others. Thank you both for all you have done to serve our clients.
